Reference Desk

 encyclopedia If a part of reference work consists of having encyclopedic knowledge at your hands, then the modern librarian is very lucky. The information flood has inundated the focused subject-based search with serendipitous discoveries using broad keyword searches.  Googling is fine, but I still like to have a list of very specific search sites for those very narrow questions.  My Web Resources Direct is a list of sites that are good for in-depth study.
